Second Chances

Everything moves on. Life goes by so quickly, that people take for granted the world that they are living in. They take advantage of the small and unnecessary commodities of their existence. Stopping only after something that could alter their lives has occured. An event that could make their heart stop in the burst of adrenaline that coursed through their bodies for that two whole seconds, everything pauses. Everything stops. The other necessaties of life no longer matter. Every person and every being passes by them in a fast colourless blur, the world is just a dull ashen image. Just a picture in a book, with a pearl orb casting an eerie display onto the achromatic sceenery below. Nothing holds anymore interest. Just disappointment, anger, sadness and hurt.

Theres always something in life, whether small or big, that almost everyone regrets. The people that dont wish they could adjust something in their past are wise. They've learned to forget; to forgive. They've taken their mistakes, and turned them into lessons for themselves. Lessons teaching them what hurt feels like, how it penatrates your being. How it tortures your soul. The painful memories sting you over and over again like a swarm of bees ambushing you. Or someone walking around inside your mind, invading personal thoughts you wanted no one to see, and putting them on display for everyone else.

Have you never been there? Have you never had regrets? No ones perfect, theres no need for a show of pride. At least one person you've known throughout your life has seen right through your fake unmarred mask of perfection. They've seen right through your fabricated eyes. Identified the silhouette of a memory you've tried to lock up.

But who cares right? What does it matter that no one else saw right through your phony little mascarade? It was just one person... one person so easily taken care of. Not a soul would know otherwise.

Think through this carefully misguided friend. Would you not regret that later as well? Would you not grieve of something else you have directed into non-existence?

As comprehension dawns on you, like a sunrise rolling over mountain peaks and spilling onto the valley below, you realize that in the duration of your whole existence humanity has given you second chances over again and again... and again. Every individual on this planet deserves a second chance. Whether their hearts are clouded over, and dingy from so many silly mistakes they no longer care about; or shining brightly in the hope that people will admit their mistakes and move on.

People can change. Hearts can alter. Beings can learn to recognize good from wrong. Minds can heal from painful memories. Maybe not forget, maybe not sting a little every now and then, but definatly heal. All in all; people deserve second chances.
